Introduction
Headway Tuition (ABN 31 940 721 976) (“Headway”, “we”, “us”) is a tutoring business operating in Sydney, New South Wales. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and in the course of providing tutoring services, the purposes for which we collect it, and the limited circumstances in which it is disclosed.
This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service, which govern the provision of tutoring itself and contain the privacy and communications commitments this policy restates.
We communicate with clients by email, and email is also the means of reaching us. We do not publish a telephone number and we do not make unsolicited calls.
Information We Collect
Our Terms of Service state the principle in a single sentence: Headway Tuition collects personal information, including name, contact details and academic information, solely for the purpose of delivering tutoring services. In practice, that information reaches us through three channels.
- Enquiries. When you submit an enquiry through this website, the form requests your full name, email address and phone number, the student’s full name and school year, the preferred lesson format and days for lessons, and, optionally, the subjects in which support is sought, the student’s goals for tutoring, any questions you have for us, and a preferred tutor. The form collects nothing that is not listed here.
- Tutor applications. When you apply to tutor with us through this website, the form requests your full name, email address and phone number, the school you graduated from, your ATAR and HSC marks and the subjects you would like to teach, and, optionally, your communication skills and tutoring experience and any questions you have for us.
- Bookings. When you book a consultation, the booking is handled by Calendly, a scheduling service embedded in the page. It requests the details required to place an appointment and send you a confirmation, and it both holds those details and passes them to us.
- Tutoring records. Once lessons begin, we hold the information needed to teach and to bill: the subjects and level being taught, the tutor assigned, the lessons scheduled and taken, the academic information a tutor works with — such as schoolwork, assessment tasks and results discussed in lessons — and the records underlying invoices and Lesson Package balances.
How We Use Personal Information
We collect and use personal information solely to deliver tutoring services. This comprises responding to enquiries, matching each student with a suitable tutor, arranging and conducting lessons, maintaining Lesson Package balances, and issuing and settling invoices.
We also use contact details for the communications described in our Terms of Service: invoices, Lesson Package updates, service updates, policy changes, administrative matters and promotion. You may opt out of promotional communications at any time by advising us; doing so does not affect any other aspect of the service.
Disclosure to Third Parties
We will not share, sell, or disclose your personal information or your enrolment in our services to any third party without your explicit consent, except where required by law.
Three limited disclosures are inherent in providing the service itself:
- The tutor matched to a student receives the information required to teach effectively, including the student’s name, school year, subjects, and the academic material the lessons concern.
- Calendly, the scheduling service that operates our booking calendar, receives the details you enter into it at the time of booking, and holds them under its own privacy policy.
- Enquiries and tutor applications submitted through this website are recorded using Google Forms and kept in Google Sheets, so Google stores them on our behalf. They are sent from our website’s server rather than from your browser, so submitting either form does not load anything from Google on this site.
Reviews and Testimonials
Any reviews, testimonials, or referrals provided to Headway Tuition are entirely voluntary. We will never solicit reviews in exchange for discounts or incentives, and you are under no obligation to provide feedback of any kind.
Where a testimonial is published on this website, it appears as it was given to us. If you would like a testimonial of yours removed, contact us and we will take it down.
Changes to This Policy
The date at the head of this page records when the policy was last updated, and changes whenever the policy does. Material changes are notified to current clients by email, as our Terms of Service provide.
Questions about this policy, or about the personal information we hold, may be directed to [email protected].
